Jumbo Concrete Shelter

The "Jumbo" is our largest in-ground shelter model with its 6'10" x 10' interior. The ceiling height inside is 6'2" inches and the shelter is rated for 12 people. Based on the time tested design of our Original shelter, the Jumbo offers more room to stretch out in an extended storm.

Built to standards recommended by FEMA, the Jumbo is constructed of 6,000 PSI concrete with fibermesh and reinforced with 1/2" inch rebar every 9 inches running both directions. The walls are 4" thick, the ceiling and floor are 5" thick, and the shelter weighs approximately 20,000 lbs.

This model comes with an 8" screened turbine vent, a 6" screened intake vent, an interior fixed staircase with dual hand rails, a leak proof 14 gauge steel door with three high strength hinges and a three point/lockable latch & handle. The door also has a support cylinder that makes it easy to open and close.

The Jumbo is installed 4 1/2 ft. into the ground with approximately 2 ft. remaining above grade. The dirt from the excavation hole is then mounded around the above grade portion on three sides creating a small mound and completely surrounding the shelter with earth. Normal installation can be completed in less than 3 hours.
